New CEO of Callen-Lorde Community Health Center Committed to Equitable Healthcare for Marginalized Communities Amidst Pride Month Celebrations

Advancing Fair Health Care for the LGBTQ+ Community

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center has a rich 50-year history that can be traced back to the St. Marks Clinic and the Gay Men’s Health Project. These clinics also provided care to all, regardless of their ability to pay, mirroring Callen-Lorde’s current mission.

With extensive experience in the healthcare sector, including roles at Amida Care, Harlem United Community AIDS Center, and Gilead, Patrick McGovern brings a wealth of knowledge and a lifetime commitment to advocacy as he takes on his new role as CEO of Callen-Lorde since August 2023. McGovern is a staunch advocate for HIV, LGBTQ+, and community health. His dedication to providing equitable healthcare for marginalized communities is evident in his work. As a gay man himself, he understands the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and those living with HIV. He recognizes the importance of creating a healthcare system that caters to the needs of these populations, who have often been neglected or stigmatized by society.

As we celebrate Pride Month in 2024, it is essential to highlight the work of individuals like Patrick McGovern and organizations like Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, who are dedicated to providing compassionate and inclusive care to all members of the community.
