New Budget Airline Offers Affordable International Red-Eye Flights, But is the Trade-Off Worth It?

The Experience of Taking a Red-Eye Flight on Budget Norse Atlantic Airways

When planning my air travel, I usually opt for the cheapest non-stop flight available from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). For my latest trip, the most affordable option was an eight-hour red-eye flight on Norse Atlantic Airways.

Norse Atlantic Airways is a new budget airline that launched in 2022 and offers non-stop flights from the US to destinations in Germany, Norway, the UK, France, and Italy. Although I had never heard of the airline before, I decided to give it a try for this trip.

I selected the economy light ticket which included a seat and space for a personal item for a total of $88. Additionally, I paid $75 to choose a window seat ahead of time and $20 for airport check-in, bringing my total cost to $183.

Typically, I enjoy domestic red-eye flights as they allow me an extra day at my destination. However, this was my first experience with an international red-eye flight and left me feeling exhausted at the beginning of my trip. It made me question if the time saved was worth the fatigue.
