New Bid Plans for 2031: The US and Mexico Team Up to Host the Women’s World Cup”.

The United States and Mexican soccer federations have decided to withdraw their joint bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Instead, they will focus on winning a bid for the 2031 event. The joint bid between the two countries was one of the three finalists for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, along with Brazil and a joint bid from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.

FIFA will decide the 2027 hosts on May 27 in Bangkok. U.S. Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone stated that hosting a World Cup tournament is a significant undertaking, and having more time to prepare will allow them to maximize its impact globally. By shifting their bid to 2031, they aim to host a record-breaking Women’s World Cup that will help grow and raise the level of the women’s game, both domestically and internationally.

The United States previously hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1999 and 2003, while Mexico has never hosted it before. Meanwhile, Brazil has never hosted it before, while Germany previously did so in 2011. The Mexican Football Federation president Ivar Sisniega expressed confidence in their ability to provide the best infrastructure and an enthusiastic fan base for the Women’s World Cup when they host it in 2031.
