Ajax has appointed Francesco Farioli as its new head coach on a three-year contract, starting 11 June. The Italian, who recently managed Nice to a fifth-place finish in the 2023-24 season, takes over from John van’t Schip, who was in interim charge and led the club to a disappointing fifth-place finish in the Eredivisie this season.
Farioli is determined to reconnect with the DNA of the club and bring new energy with a positive way of working and thinking. He acknowledged that there is a lot of work to be done but has already begun preparing for the upcoming season. The new head coach emphasized the importance of not wasting any time and getting Ajax back to where it belongs.
Prior to his time at Nice, Farioli managed Turkish clubs Fatih Karagumruk and Alanyaspor. His appointment has raised hopes among Ajax fans for a brighter future under his leadership.
