New Additions and Departures: Steelers Finalize Roster Moves Ahead of Season Start

Jaray Jenkins signed by Steelers, Luq Barcoo waived

The Steelers made several roster moves on Monday, including the signing of their first-round pick Troy Fautanu and the addition of wide receiver Jaray Jenkins to the team. In a corresponding move, they waived defensive back Luq Barcoo with an injury designation. These roster moves are crucial as the Steelers prepare for the upcoming season.

Jenkins, who went undrafted in 2023, spent time with the Jaguars before being cut from their team. Despite showing promise during preseason games with two catches for 32 yards, he was unable to secure a spot on their 53-man roster. However, the Steelers are hopeful that Jenkins can contribute to their receiving corps and provide depth at the position.

Barcoo was on Pittsburgh’s practice squad last year but saw some action with the Jaguars in 2020. He played in three games and recorded ten tackles along with one pass defensed. The decision to waive him with an injury designation may indicate that the team is looking to add depth elsewhere on the roster.

It will be interesting to see how these roster moves play out as the Steelers continue their preparations for the upcoming season.
