New 100 euro charge for CPF-funded training announced, while car and motorcycle license access may be restricted

Decree Mandating 100 Euro Liability Published as of May 2 by CPF

The government has announced that a 100 euro charge will be implemented for anyone who wishes to embark on training through their Personal Training Account (CPF). This decision was made final with the publication of an implementing decree in the Official Journal on April 30. The decree will take effect on May 2, requiring each employee to pay the 100 euro fee in order to benefit from training paid for by their employer.

The decree provides for some exceptions to the 100 euro fee, such as when employers agree to contribute to the training costs and when individuals are undertaking retraining actions. Job seekers are not required to pay the fee. The fixed price of 100 euros will be reviewed annually based on changes in consumer prices.

On the other hand, a decree restricting access to car and motorcycle licenses through the CPF has yet to be published. This measure follows an initial decision to allow financing for all types of licenses, but the government has now decided to limit access. It will no longer be possible to finance a motorcycle license if you already have a car license, or vice versa. The government cites potential cost savings as a reason for this restriction, estimating a savings of over 200 million euros.
