Nevada Health Link Extends Special Enrollment Period Amidst Medicaid Redetermination Confusion

Special Enrollment Period Extended for Certain Individuals by Nevada Health Link

Nevada Health Link has announced that it will be extending its special enrollment period through the end of November. This decision was made in response to the Medicaid eligibility redetermination process that began in April 2023 and will be available to those who no longer qualify for Medicaid or CHIP. Eligible individuals can enroll if they lost their Medicaid benefits more than 60 days ago.

Since the Medicaid redetermination process started, only about 4% of Nevadans who were deemed ineligible for Medicaid benefits have enrolled in a plan through Nevada Health Link. Executive Director of Nevada Health Link, Russell Cook, noted that one challenge faced by individuals who lost Medicaid is their lack of a current mailing address on file with Medicaid, leading them to be unaware that their coverage has ended.

Nevadans who have lost Medicaid coverage are encouraged to reach out to Nevada Health Link for enrollment support. They can visit the website or call 1800-547-2927 for assistance. The extension of the special enrollment period offers individuals another opportunity to obtain health coverage through Nevada Health Link.

The redetermination process has caused confusion and uncertainty among some Nevadans who were once eligible for Medicaid but have now been deemed ineligible. However, with the extension of the special enrollment period, these individuals can take advantage of this new opportunity to obtain health coverage through Nevada Health Link.

Nevada Health Link is committed to providing affordable and accessible health care options for all residents of the state. The extension of the special enrollment period is an important step towards ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare services, regardless of their income level or eligibility status.
