Nebraska Secures Commitment from Top Recruit and Repeats Successful Strategy in Recruiting Class

Three-star lineman Houston Kaahaaina-Torres commits to Husker football

The Nebraska football team has secured a significant commitment from a top recruit before the start of the 2024 season. Houston Kaahaaina-Torres announced his commitment to Nebraska on social media, following a visit to the campus on June 21. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 290 pounds, Kaahaaina-Torres is a three-star lineman and the number one player in the state of Hawaii. He has been playing varsity football for St. Louis High School in Honolulu since his freshman year.

After receiving offers from several other schools, including Arizona State, California, and Michigan State, Kaahaaina-Torres ultimately chose Nebraska. This marks the second consecutive year that Nebraska has landed the top recruit from Hawaii, with Preston Taumua joining the team last year. Kaahaaina-Torres is the 13th commitment in Nebraska’s recruiting class and the second offensive lineman to commit, following three-star offensive tackle Brian Tapu.

Nebraska’s recruiting class continues to grow as more top prospects make their college decisions. With Kaahaaina-Torres’ commitment, Nebraska now has two highly sought after offensive linemen in its class. As we approach the start of the 2024 season, it looks like Nebraska will have a strong lineup of talent on its roster.
