Nebraska is currently offering scholarships to athletes for the 2025-2026 basketball season, with Abdul Bashir from Casper (Wyo.) College being one of the recipients. Bashir, a native of Omaha and a guard at Omaha Central High School, recently made an unofficial visit to Lincoln. The 6-foot-7-inch freshman played his first season at Casper College, appearing in 33 games and earning 32 starts. He impressed with his stats, averaging 19.4 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game.

Throughout the season, Bashir had several standout performances, scoring a career-high 33 points in three different games. In the team’s Region IX North Sub-Region Play-In Game, he once again led the team with 33 points. Despite their efforts, Bashir and the Thunderbirds were unable to secure a win in the Region IX Tourney in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, falling to Western Nebraska Community College.
