Three recruits from the University of North Dakota and two players from Warroad selected for U.S. World Junior Summer Showcase, reports Grand Forks Herald

UND recruits Mac Swanson, E.J. Emery, and Andrew Strathmann, along with Warroad graduates Jayson Shaugabay and Hampton Slukynsky, have been invited to participate in the U.S. World Junior Summer Showcase from July 26-August 3 in Plymouth, Mich. The camp is designed to assist in the selection process of the team for the upcoming championship event in Ottawa.

Three UND incoming freshmen and two Warroad High graduates are likely candidates for the U.S. World Junior Championship team. The head coach for USA’s team will be Denver’s David Carle for a second consecutive year, with Brad Elliott Schlossman covering college hockey for the Grand Forks Herald since 2005 providing information on this matter. Players will also be evaluated during the first half of their college seasons to determine their readiness for the tournament, which takes place from December 26-January 5 in Ottawa.

Swanson and Emery are eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft and are expected to participate in the tournament as well as Sacha Boisvert who is being considered for Canada’s team while Shaugabay and Slukynsky were close picks from each other in last year’s draft, with Shaugabay going to Tampa Bay Lightning and Slukynsky to Los Angeles Kings
