NC Tar Heels Star Forward Harrison Ingram Announces NBA Draft Entry: A Closer Look at His Impact on the Team’s Success

Harrison Ingram from North Carolina chooses to declare for the NBA draft

North Carolina’s wing player, Harrison Ingram, has decided to enter the NBA draft. The 6-foot-7 and 225-pound athlete made this announcement in a statement and video shared on social media on Saturday. Ingram played for two seasons at Stanford where he averaged 10.5 points.

During his time at North Carolina, Ingram emerged as the team’s third leading scorer, averaging 12.2 points and second leading rebounder, grabbing an average of 8.8 rebounds per game. His contributions helped the Tar Heels secure the Atlantic Coast Conference’s regular season title and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Throughout the season, Ingram had several standout performances including a double-double in his first Duke-UNC game and a career high 19 rebounds against N.C State. His performance against N.C State marked the biggest output by a UNC player in the rivalry’s history.

Ingram’s decision to enter the draft means North Carolina will be losing two other starters including veteran big man Armando Bacot and guard Cormac Ryan. However, guard RJ Davis who was named first-team Associated Press All American still has the option to utilize a fifth year of eligibility if he chooses to stay in Chapel Hill.

The loss of these key players will certainly impact North Carolina’s roster next season but their success in recent years is testament to their talent pool and ability to perform under pressure.
