N.C. State continues impressive March Madness streak, triumphs over Marquette 67-58

The Wolfpack’s magical NCAA Tournament run continued as they secured their eighth consecutive win since the start of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, defeating Marquette 67-58 and advancing to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1986. N.C. State’s 25-14 record this season, coupled with their recent momentum in the tournament, has positioned them as a strong contender in the South Region.

The Sweet 16 matchup unfolded on the 50th anniversary of N.C. State’s first national championship win in 1974 against Marquette, and their hopes of a second title in 1983 seemed promising. The team, led by head coach Kevin Keatts, will now face top-seeded Houston or No. 4 seed Duke in the Elite Eight for a chance to advance to the Final Four.

Forward DJ Burns Jr. played a pivotal role in N.C. State’s victory over Marquette, showcasing his skills with a spinning layup and five assists. Mohamed Diarra had an impressive performance as well, scoring 11 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in the winning effort.
