NBA Investigates Toronto Raptors Forward Jontay Porter Over Betting Irregularities

NBA Investigating Jontay Porter of the Raptors for Betting Irregularities: Report

The NBA is currently investigating Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter for suspected betting irregularities, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. It was announced that he would be withheld from the Raptors’ matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night, and it remains uncertain how long he will be out. The league has confirmed to ESPN that they are actively investigating the situation.

The NBA is specifically looking into two recent games where there was unusual betting activity related to Porter’s prop bets. On January 26th, in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Porter played only four minutes and left the game due to an eye injury. Despite not attempting any 3-pointers, he recorded no points, three rebounds, and one assist. The under on his 3-pointers proved to be a significant win for bettors through DraftKings Sportsbook.

Another game under scrutiny is when the Raptors faced the Phoenix Suns on March 20th. Porter played just three minutes before being ruled out due to illness, registering no points, two rebounds, and one missed shot. Once again, the under hit on all prop bet categories for Porter, proving to be a top money earner for bettors that night through DraftKings Sportsbook.

Jontay Porter did not participate in the Raptors’ game against Washington Wizards over the weekend due to personal reasons. He was also sidelined for the game versus Brooklyn Nets due to undisclosed reasons. NBA regulations strictly prohibit players and all league employees from betting on any NBA games or engaging in any form of prop betting.

Jontay Porter is currently in his debut season with Toronto Raptors after being acquired through a trade last year along with Kyle Lowry from Houston Rockets in exchange for James Harden and others
