The Warriors have agreed to a two-way contract with former Virginia Cavaliers guard Reece Beekman following the conclusion of the 2024 NBA Draft, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Beekman, who spent four seasons at Virginia, started 121 of the 126 games he played and averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 assists in 32.7 minutes per game during his college career.
Although Beekman showed promise on the offensive end, his defensive skills are what set him apart. He was a three-time ACC All-Defensive team selection, as well as a two-time recipient of the ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award. His defensive ratings at Virginia were consistently impressive, showcasing his ability to make an impact on that side of the ball.
As a two-way contract player, Beekman will have the opportunity to prove himself to the Warriors and demonstrate that he has what it takes to compete at the NBA level. With the ability to play up to 50 games in the season under a two-way contract, Beekman will have ample chances to showcase his skills and potentially earn a full-time spot on the Warriors roster.
