Navy Sophomore Maren Louridas: A Force to be Reckoned With on and off the Court

Maren Louridas earns spot on College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

Maren Louridas, a sophomore at the Naval Academy, is making waves both on and off the basketball court. This week, she was recognized for her academic achievements as well as her success on the court. She was honored on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and previously selected to the 2023-24 Patriot League All-Academic Team. Louridas is one of six student-athletes from the conference to receive this nationwide accolade.

As a two-year starter for the Mids, she has played both as a guard and forward, starting 60 of a possible 61 games and scoring 528 points with an average of 8.7 per game. She has also collected 317 rebounds, averaging 5.2 per game. Known for her prowess as a one-on-one defender, Louridas rarely leaves the court, playing 1,017 minutes as a freshman and 927 as a sophomore. Her average of 31.9 minutes per game ranks fifth all-time in Navy’s career record book. After earning a spot on the Patriot League All-Rookie Team last season, she continued to excel in the conference in 2023-24 with the 10th-best rebounding average and the 18th-best steals per game average.

Off the court, Louridas is just as impressive with a 4.0 GPA in cyber operations over her first three semesters at the Naval Academy. She has received three Commandant’s List accolades and was named to the 2022-23 Patriot League Honor Roll.
