Nature’s Cathedral: MSU Hosts Free Yoga Sessions in the Garden this Summer

MSU University Health and Wellbeing Offering Yoga Classes at Beal Botanical Garden for Summer Rec Fitness Program

This summer, MSU Recreational Sports and Fitness Services, in partnership with University Health and Wellbeing, Student Life & Engagement, and the Beal Botanical Garden, are hosting free yoga sessions in the garden. The purpose of Yoga in the Garden is to offer health and wellness opportunities to the campus community and help Spartans prioritize their well-being, according to Courtney Placinta of University Health and Wellbeing Communications Director.

The sessions will be divided into three different periods: Summer I running from May 28 to June 25, Summer II from July 9 to August 13, and Fall starting on September 3. Participants can join these sessions without needing to register in advance. They are encouraged to bring water, a yoga mat or towel, and dress appropriately for the weather. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be communicated through social media.

The yoga sessions will take place under the ginkgo tree in the garden for the entire season. By offering these free yoga sessions in a picturesque outdoor setting, MSU hopes to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage mindfulness and well-being among its students and faculty. If you are looking to de-stress, unwind, and improve your physical and mental health, don’t miss out on this opportunity to practice yoga in a beautiful natural environment.
