NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Warns China of Consequences over Support for Russia in Ukraine Conflict

During a speech at the Wilson Center in Washington, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg addressed China’s support for Russia and its impact on the war in Ukraine. He emphasized that it is impossible for China to both escalate the conflict by supporting Russia and improve its relations with the West. Stoltenberg called for consequences if China continues down this path, stating that the West must make it pay a price unless it changes course.

In addition, Stoltenberg highlighted the importance of continuing to send Western weapons to Ukraine in order to achieve peace in the region. Despite appearing contradictory, providing more weapons to Ukraine is crucial for achieving peace, especially after Kiev refused to yield to Russia’s demands.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit North Korea on Tuesday and Wednesday for a rare trip to one of the most isolated countries in the world. Western countries have accused North Korea of providing ammunition to Moscow to continue its attack on Ukraine. The visit comes as Russia and North Korea have strengthened their relations since the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, despite both countries being subject to international sanctions.

The Kremlin confirmed that Putin will pay a friendly state visit to North Korea at Kim Jong Un’s invitation. This visit represents a significant development in Russia’s relationship with North Korea amid ongoing tensions in the region.
