The Nashville native has not only solidified her chances of making the US Olympic team but has also emerged as a favorite for gold in the Paris Games. Walsh set a world record in the 100-meter butterfly during her semifinal heat in Indianapolis, clocking in at 55.18 seconds and surpassing the previous record set by Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom in 2016.
Hailing from Nashville, Walsh has a strong swimming background, having won numerous high school state titles while at Harpeth Hall before transitioning to collegiate swimming at Virginia.
