NASA’s Voyager 1 Spacecraft Resumes Sending Science Data After Technical Issue

NASA’s Voyager 1 Resumes Scientific Operations As The Farthest Spacecraft From Earth

NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft, the most distant spacecraft from Earth, has resumed sending science data after a computer problem in November. The announcement was made by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California this week. The team was able to receive meaningful information from Voyager 1 in April and recently commanded it to start sending science data once again.

Voyager 1, launched in 1977, is currently exploring interstellar space, the space between star systems. Its twin spacecraft, Voyager 2, is also functioning properly and continues its mission. The spacecraft’s four scientific instruments are now back in full operation after a technical issue that occurred in November of 2023.

The remarkable piece of technology has provided valuable insights into our universe since its launch over four decades ago. With its successful return to sending science data, Voyager 1 continues to be an important tool for understanding the mysteries of our cosmos.
