On Tuesday morning, the body of a man was discovered in a retention pond on Lee Road just north of Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville. Investigators have ruled out foul play after responding to a call about a possible drowning at 8 am. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office dive team and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department recovered the man’s body from the pond, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity and age remain unknown.
Despite there being no signs of trauma, foul play is not suspected at this time. The case is currently being treated as an undetermined death. The pond is located on vacant property near an abandoned house, and police do not believe the man lived there.
