Moxley’s IWGP Title Match: Fight Against EVIL and House of Torture

Challenger Accepted for IWGP World Title Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door presented a challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, which Jon Moxley successfully retained at the event. After his victory, he declared that he would defend the title anywhere at any time and invited anyone to come to the ring to challenge him. Tetsuya Naito eventually accepted the challenge and issued it for Forbidden Door later this month in New York. Moxley, who has defended the title both in NJPW and AEW, accepted the challenge.

Moxley first won the title for the first time back at Windy City Riot in February by defeating Naito. He has since defended it against various opponents, including Powerhouse Hobbs on an episode of AEW Dynamite. At Sunday’s Dominion event in Osaka-jo Hall, Moxley retained the title once again by defeating EVIL in a lumberjack match. The finish saw Moxley give EVIL the death rider on top of a barbed wire baseball bat to remain IWGP World Champion.

Throughout most of the year, EVIL and House of Torture have been terrorizing the company with their antics. In response, Moxley brought in third generation NJPW stars to assist him during the lumberjack match at Dominion. This marked yet another successful defense of his championship belt and solidified his status as one of pro wrestling’s top stars today.
