The Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is thrilled to share the progress made on the Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA) at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL. Construction began on November 13, 2020, and we are proud to have reached this significant milestone in our efforts to establish a cultural, educational, and economic asset for the community.
The development of Mote SEA reflects our commitment to engaging and educating future ocean stewards. By offering immersive experiences, hands-on learning opportunities, and educational programs, we aim to increase public awareness of marine science and highlight the importance of the ocean in sustaining life on Earth.
Our campaign, “Oceans for All: Improving Access to Marine Science & Technology,” emphasizes our goal of creating a more inclusive and informed society. Located at Nathan Benderson Park, the aquarium will be easily accessible to a diverse range of communities in Sarasota and Manatee counties, as well as worldwide.
Mote SEA will serve as a hub for marine science and technology education, catering to K-12 students and inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators. This initiative aligns with our mission to promote ocean literacy and advance scientific knowledge in the field of marine research.
As we continue to progress with the development of Mote SEA, we welcome individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to join us in our mission to create a more sustainable future for our oceans and our planet.
