Adam Bello presents status of public health in regional speech

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced several new initiatives in his State of Public Health Address on Monday. One of the highlights was the launch of a new Office of Mental Health mobile app that connects residents with vital mental health resources. Additionally, Bello addressed the stigma surrounding addiction and announced a new campaign aimed at changing perceptions around seeking help for addiction. He also invited veterans and active service members to participate in the county’s new nature-based clinical therapy program.

Another major announcement was the introduction of the Moving Forward Family Shelter, the first county-owned emergency housing facility. Bello emphasized the importance of holistic health in the community, stating that public health goes beyond physical well-being to include mental health and addiction support. He stressed his administration’s commitment to providing enhanced public health resources to residents where they live.

Bello also highlighted the installation and restocking of over 550 naloxone boxes in public parks, facilities, and private businesses across the county. Since the program began in July 2022, 20,446 Naloxone kits have been distributed from these boxes. This initiative is part of the county’s efforts to address the opioid crisis and ensure the well-being of its residents.
