LIVE Updates: International Yoga Day 2024 Celebrated Globally and in India, with PM Modi Leading the Celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again highlighted the importance of yoga as a force for global good during his address on International Yoga Day. This year’s theme of “Yoga for Self and Society” emphasizes the role of yoga in promoting individual well-being and social harmony. Despite heavy rain, PM Modi led a 30-minute yoga session focusing on this theme, despite initially planning to speak at the banks of the Dal Lake.

In past years, PM Modi has commemorated Yoga Day at various iconic locations across India, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, and Jabalpur. Last year he even led celebrations at the UN Headquarters in New York. This year’s celebration in Srinagar is expected to further elevate the significance of International Yoga Day.

Meanwhile in Tamil Nadu, increasing revenue from alcohol sales is raising concerns about addiction, especially in light of recent hooch tragedies. K Annamalai addressed this issue by highlighting the need for greater awareness and intervention to combat alcohol-related problems in the region.
