Major League Baseball is one of the most popular sports in North America, with 30 teams competing for the Commissioner’s Trophy every year. As of May 31, 2024, only five franchises have yet to win this prestigious award: the Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, and Tampa Bay Rays. In this article, we will take a closer look at each team and how close they have come to winning a World Series.

The Rockies were founded in 1995 and have only made one World Series appearance in 2007 where they were swept by the Boston Red Sox. They have never won their division and have only made five wild-card berths in their franchise history. Despite their lack of success on the field, ESPN’s MLB coverage offers a wide range of information including breaking news, analysis, features, offseason grades, fantasy baseball advice, prospect rankings and more.

The Brewers were founded in 1970 and have also only appeared in the World Series once. In 1982, they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. In 2018, they made it to the NLCS but fell short to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 4-3 series. The Brewers are known for their strong farm system that has produced several top prospects over the years.

The Padres were founded in 1969 and hold the title of being the oldest MLB team without a World Series win. They have played in the World Series twice: In 1984 they lost to the Detroit Tigers in five games and in 1998 they were swept by the New York Yankees. Despite their struggles on the field, ESPN’s MLB coverage offers a wide range of information including breaking news, analysis, features
