Indian-American Student Located in US After Disappearing for Several Days

Recently, a 17-year-old Indian-American student named Ishika Thakore who had gone missing in Frisco was found, according to the police. The Frisco police had sought the public’s help in locating Ishika Thakore, who went missing on Monday. After posting a description of her on social media, the police later confirmed that she had been located.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old student from Hyderabad who was pursuing a Master’s degree in the US was found dead earlier in the week. This unfortunate event adds to a concerning trend of deaths involving Indian and Indian-origin students in the United States. Mohammed Abdul Arfath had been missing for nearly three weeks before being found deceased. The Indian consulate had been in contact with Abdul’s family during this difficult time.

Despite these tragic occurrences, the US remains a top choice for Indian students looking to further their education. In fact, over 2.6 lakh Indian students migrated to the US during the 2022-2023 academic session, marking a 35% increase from the previous session. This growth highlights the growing popularity of the United States as an educational destination for Indian students.
