Minnesota Wild’s Matt Boldy makes US World Ice Hockey Championship roster; Coach John Hynes leads team with a mix of NHL talent and prospects.

John Hynes named coach of U.S. national team for world championships, Wild’s Matt Boldy selected as player

The Minnesota Wild’s Matt Boldy has been named to the United States’ 15-player roster for the upcoming World Ice Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic, set for May 10-16. John Hynes of the Wild will lead the team as coach.

The initial roster includes players from NHL teams that did not make the playoffs, including Boldy, Chicago defensemen Alex Vlasic and Seth Jones, Ottawa forwards Shane Pinto and Brady Tkachuk, Columbus defenseman Zach Werenski, Sharks winger Luke Kunin, Detroit forward Dylan Larkin, Columbus forward Johnny Gaudreau, Montreal forward Cole Caufield, Detroit goalie Alex Lyon, New Jersey defenseman Luke Hughes, Ottawa defenseman Jake Sanderson, and Philadelphia forward Joel Farabee.

Unfortunately, Brock Faber of the Wild was unable to join the team due to a fractured rib injury sustained at the end of the season. The remaining roster spots could be filled by players from teams eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
