Penn State Health hospitals achieve significant recognition from vascular screening accrediting organization

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey and St. Joseph medical centers have recently been recognized by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for their dedication to improving patient outcomes and safety. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center was awarded the Gold Milestone recognition for maintaining vascular testing accreditation for over 30 years, while St. Joseph Medical Center received the Silver Milestone recognition for 25 years of accreditation.

Since initially receiving accreditation from the IAC in 1993 and 1997, Hershey and St. Joseph medical centers have undergone a thorough application and review process every three years, which includes an evaluation by a panel of medical experts. Dr. Josh Radtka, a Penn State Health vascular surgeon and the medical director of the Vascular Ultrasound Lab at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, expressed gratitude for being recognized as an early adopter of IAC accreditation and for their ongoing dedication to providing quality vascular testing services.

The accreditation process evaluates various operational and technical aspects of the medical centers, such as representative case studies and the corresponding final reports. Bryan Schmalhofer, Penn State Health regional director of diagnostic imaging, emphasized the significance of the IAC as the gold standard in the field of vascular testing and commended the teams for consistently delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care.
