Michigan Tech Appoints David Flaspohler as New Dean of College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences

David Flaspohler appointed as Dean of Michigan Tech’s College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science

Michigan Technological University has appointed David Flaspohler as the new Dean of the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences. Flaspohler, who has been serving as the interim dean since 2022, was chosen after an extensive national search. He has been teaching at the university since 1998 and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Wildlife Ecology and a Master of Science in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin.

Andrew Storer, the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude to the search committee for their efforts in identifying qualities in Flaspohler that will benefit the college. The university believes that Flaspohler’s experience and expertise make him the ideal candidate to lead the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences into the future.

With Flaspohler at the helm, the college is expected to continue its tradition of excellence in research and education in the field of forest resources and environmental sciences. His leadership will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the college and ensuring its continued success.
