Michael Bunting: A Rising Star on the Ice and the Canadian Team for 2024 IIHF World Championship

Michael Bunting selected to represent Team Canada at IIHF World Championship

Michael Bunting, a 28-year-old forward from Scarborough, Ontario, has been chosen to represent Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. This will be his second time playing for Canada at the World Championship and comes after a successful season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Throughout the season, Bunting played in a total of 81 games, scoring 55 points with 19 goals and 36 assists. Since joining the Penguins in March, he ranked fifth in goals (6), second in assists (13), and third in points (19) among all Penguins skaters. Bunting’s impressive play on the ice earned him Calder Trophy finalist recognition in 2022.

Bunting has played in a total of 268 games and accumulated 181 points since making his debut in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes in 2018-19. His most impressive season was with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2021-22, where he had career highs in goals (23), assists (40), and points (63).

Team Canada’s Preliminary Round Schedule for the IIHF World Championship has been released and will be followed by broadcast information at a later date.
