Miami to Host WBC Championship Game in 2026: A Home Run for International Baseball

Miami to host second consecutive World Baseball Classic title game in March 2026

Major League Baseball has announced that loanDepot park in Miami will once again host the World Baseball Classic championship game in March 2026, alongside Houston, Tokyo, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. This will mark the second consecutive time that Miami has been a site for all three phases of the WBC.

In 2023, loanDepot park became the first venue to host games in all three phases of a WBC, solidifying its reputation as a hub for international baseball. The Miami Marlins’ home stadium was the scene of Japan’s victory over the United States in a thrilling final match, with Shohei Ohtani striking out Mike Trout to seal the win. Marlins owner Bruce Sherman expressed pride in showcasing loanDepot park as a venue for such prestigious events and looks forward to welcoming the tournament back to Miami.

Houston will be hosting WBC games for the first time in 2026, while Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico will mark its return as a venue since 2013. Tokyo has been a host city for pools in all five previous editions of the World Baseball Classic.

The announcement of the 2026 venues was made by Major League Baseball on Thursday, signaling the start of the planning for another exciting tournament. The tournament is expected to attract record-breaking attendance and generate significant economic impact for each host city.
