Drew Gilbert, a promising Mets outfield prospect, has been sidelined with a right hamstring strain since April 6th. However, it is expected that he will make a return by mid-July. Despite the injury, the 23-year-old is still on track to make his big league debut in 2024 as he is the No. 2 prospect in the Mets’ system according to SNY.

The Mets have been getting strong production from their starting outfield trio of Brandon Nimmo, Harrison Bader, and Starling Marte this season. Gilbert had an impressive slash line of .289/.381/.487 over 116 games with 18 homers, 26 doubles, and 12 stolen bases in the minor leagues last season for both the Astros and Mets. He scored 79 runs and drove in 59 RBI during his minor league campaign.
