Mets Mix Up Roster with Call-Ups and Send-Offs in Bid for Big-League Success

Mets designate Joey Wendle for assignment and bring up Mark Vientos in series of roster changes

Before Wednesday’s game in Philadelphia, the Mets made several roster moves official. Mark Vientos was recalled from Triple-A to share time at third base with Brett Baty, while Joey Wendle was designated for assignment due to his struggles on both offense and defense. The Mets hope that Vientos can provide a spark for the team after hitting a walk-off home run in his brief appearance earlier this season.

Additionally, Joey Lucchesi has been called up to start in place of Adrian Houser against the Phillies. Despite pitching well in his first seven big-league appearances, Jose Butto has been sent back to Syracuse after a five-inning outing on Tuesday. Grant Hartwig has also been added to the roster to bolster the shorthanded bullpen, replacing Yohan Ramirez, who has been designated for assignment.

These roster changes seem aimed at shaking things up and improving the team’s performance on both offense and defense. Vientos and Lucchesi will have an opportunity to showcase their skills at the big-league level, while Butto and Ramirez may have another chance later in the season. Only time will tell if these moves will have a positive impact on the team’s performance moving forward.
