Meta’s new AI image generation feature, Imagine, is allowing users to create high-quality images by typing a prompt. This feature, powered by Meta’s AI model Llama 3, generates images with text and can be accessed on WhatsApp and the Meta AI website in beta. Users can animate, iterate on, or turn the generated image into a GIF. The Meta AI assistant has also been updated to provide specific recommendations for restaurant options with sunset views or vegan dishes.
Although Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, called the company’s AI advancements “wild,” there is still work to be done to catch up with competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic. Meta plans to train larger models of Llama 3 in the future and release them alongside OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Anthropic’s Claude 3 Opus. This release is expected to bring Meta on par with its competitors in the field of AI advancements.
