Meta Introduces AI Chatbot to Social Networks: Revolutionizing How Users Access Information

Meta integrates its generative AI into WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced that it will be incorporating its Meta AI chatbot into social networks like Whatsapp, Facebook, and Messenger. This decision was made possible by a new open-source language model called Llama 3. Meta AI will be integrated into the feed, chats, and search bars of these applications, allowing users to ask questions, generate images, and access real-time information within the app itself.

Meta’s introduction of Meta AI and Llama 3 is a strategic move to outperform competitors like ChatGPT who have also entered the AI space in recent years. The conversational tool will not only be available on social networks but also on the Meta.ai website, making it accessible to a wide audience.

In a video shared on Facebook, Meta creator Mark Zuckerberg expressed his goal of building the most advanced AI in the world and making it accessible to everyone. The Llama 3 model is essential for the functionality of Meta AI and will soon be available on cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud as well as supported by hardware services from companies like AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA.

While Meta has trained the tool on data covering around 30 languages, they acknowledge that performance level may vary in languages other than English. Despite this challenge, Meta is optimistic about the potential of Meta AI to revolutionize how users interact with social networks and access information.
