Merus Power Secures Major 20 Million Euro Order for Finland’s Largest Energy Storage Facility: Expansion and Growth in the Energy Sector

Merus Power to Construct 20 Million Euro Electricity Storage Facility in Valkeakoski

Merus Power has recently received an order worth nearly 20 million euros from Swiss energy company Alpiqilta to build a 30 MW/36 MWh electricity storage facility in Valkeakoski Fingrid’s network. The company will take charge of project development and delivery, as well as provide maintenance and operation services for the facility, which is set to be commissioned in the summer of 2025. This project is expected to be one of the largest in Finland operating in the frequency reserve market.

Despite this new order, Merus Power’s financial guidance for the year remains unchanged, with anticipated increases in turnover and EBITDA compared to the previous year. The company has invested heavily in technology development and total solutions, aiming for growth and increased competence in energy storage solutions. Additionally, Merus Power has continued to invest in new generation technologies and partnerships, such as with Taaleri Energia, to expand its offerings.

These strategic investments have required significant one-time costs at the start of the year to enable growth. However, the company remains committed to delivering innovative electricity storage solutions and serving the evolving energy market. With this project and ongoing investments, Merus Power is positioning itself as a leader in energy storage solutions in Finland.
