McDonald’s USA Embraces IBM’s Voice-Ordering Technology for Drive-Thru Restaurants, While Presto Automation Sets Sights on Expansion and Increased Efficiency

McDonald’s Removing AI Technology from Over 100 Drive-Thrus

McDonald’s USA has been collaborating with IBM on a voice-ordering solution for their drive-thru restaurants. The company’s chief restaurant officer, Mason Smoot, expressed confidence in this technology and thanked IBM and the restaurant teams involved in the testing process. Presto Automation, a restaurant tech company, has also been working with McDonald’s to develop drive-thru AI technology. The company aims to expand its number of worldwide restaurants from 41,822 to 50,000 by 2027 and is focusing on personalized digital offers through their mobile app and increasing efficiency in their drive-thru lanes with the help of AI technology. IBM and Presto Automation have both shown great potential in advancing restaurant technology, and McDonald’s plans to make a decision on implementing a voice ordering solution by the end of the year while expressing interest in working with IBM on future projects.
