Mayweather Promotions Welcomes New CEO: Richard Schaefer to Guide Global Success in Boxing Industry

Floyd Mayweather and his longtime promoter Leonard Ellerbe part ways

Leonard Ellerbe, who played a crucial role in Floyd Mayweather’s rise in the early 2000s, has stepped down as CEO of Mayweather Promotions. After two successful decades, Ellerbe has made the decision to spend more time with family and loved ones. Richard Schaefer will be taking his place as CEO of Mayweather Promotions.

Schaefer is a highly respected finance expert with over forty years of experience in promotional boxing. He previously worked for Golden Boy Promotions alongside Oscar De La Hoya. The goal is to establish Mayweather Headquarters in Los Angeles and elevate the organization to global success. This partnership aims to support fighters worldwide and help them make sound business decisions that will benefit them long after their boxing careers have ended.

Mayweather, who retired with a perfect 50-0 record in 2017, has since participated in various exhibition bouts, including matchups against YouTubers Logan Paul and Deji. The announcement of the change in leadership at Mayweather Promotions marks a new chapter for the organization and sets the stage for continued success on a global scale.
