Maxeon and Aiko Solar: Legal Battles in European Markets and Innovative Product Launches at Intersolar Europe 2024

Maxeon files lawsuit against Aiko Solar for alleged infringement of technology patents

Maxeon, a prominent solar energy company, is currently entangled in legal battles with Aiko Solar across multiple European countries. In an effort to safeguard its intellectual property rights, Maxeon has sought an injunction against Aiko and its distributors in nations such as Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Marc Robinson, Associate General Counsel of Maxeon, underscored the importance of defending the company’s intellectual property in these major European solar markets. He stated that the legal proceedings against Aiko Solar are crucial for upholding Maxeon’s market position and protecting its customers’ investments.

Apart from the ongoing legal disputes with Aiko Solar, Maxeon has also filed an appeal in the Netherlands related to a preliminary injunction decision in a patent dispute with the company. A judge in the District Court of The Hague had denied Maxeon’s preliminary injunction request in a case involving solar cell architectures. This decision was met with approval from Aiko Solar, which characterized it as a significant victory for their innovative ABC products.

In addition to its legal challenges, Maxeon is showcasing its latest residential home energy system at Intersolar Europe 2024. The exhibition features two new solar modules: Maxeon 7 and Performance 7. The Performance 7 modules boast n-type TOPCon technology and have an efficiency of up to 22.4%, while they can also withstand extreme weather conditions. On the other hand, the Maxeon 7 solar module offers an efficiency of 24% and is designed for residential applications. Both modules highlight Maxeon’s commitment to innovation within the solar energy sector.

Overall, Maxeon remains focused on both legal battles and product innovation as it continues to establish itself as a leading player in European solar markets.
