Maui County releases findings from Business Health Check survey | Latest News, Sports, and Job Opportunities

The Maui Business Health Check survey was recently released by the County of Maui Office of Economic Development (OED). The survey, conducted from January to February 2024, received responses from 290 businesses, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by the Maui business community in the aftermath of the wildfires that occurred in August 2023.

Initiated by OED, the survey aimed to collect feedback from businesses directly and indirectly impacted by the wildfires. The goal was to gain a better understanding of the obstacles businesses are facing and identify areas where additional support and resources are needed. Among the 290 participants, 106 businesses were from Lahaina, representing a variety of industries including tourism and hospitality, retail, food and beverage, and arts, culture, and entertainment.

Businesses shared their perspectives on a range of topics such as commercial leases, financial assistance, taxes, marketing, communications, infrastructure, and rebuilding. Luana Mahi, OED director, expressed gratitude to the businesses that took part in the survey
