Masters Tournament Faces Challenging Weather Conditions for Opening Round, But Promising Week Ahead

Forecast for Masters 2024: Expect Thunderstorms and High Winds on Thursday

The 2021 Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia may face wet and windy conditions for its opening round. According to the forecast, there is a 90% chance of precipitation, with rainfall expected to range from 1 to 1½ inches, and gusts of up to 45 mph as thunderstorms are predicted to roll through early Thursday morning.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the rest of the week looks promising. Once the cold front passes, sunny skies will replace the stormy ones, with highs in the mid-70s and moderate winds. Friday could see gusts of up to 30 mph, but other days are expected to be relatively calm.

Last year’s tournament faced severe weather conditions for the first time since 2019. The final round had to start early and be split between tee times due to disruptions caused by thunderstorms. The second round was suspended twice because of weather-related delays, and a third delay occurred after several pine trees fell near the 17th tee. Despite these challenges, the tournament managed to finish by Sunday evening.
