A workshop on precision crop management is coming up on June 12 at the Jackson County Extension Center in Newport, Arkansas. The event will focus on various technologies that can be used in precision agriculture, such as spatial data and satellite imagery. Attendees can expect to learn how to use inexpensive technologies and free tools to maximize their operations’ benefits, regardless of their current level of technological expertise.

The workshop will feature presentations from specialists at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Aurelie Poncet, assistant professor of remote sensing and extension pesticide application specialist, emphasized that the workshop will address producers’ needs in precision agriculture. The agenda for the workshop includes a variety of topics related to precision technology and practical applications. There will be presentations on precision software for businesses, spatial data layers, satellite imagery scouting tools, geospatial irrigation tools, and site-specific decision-making. The event will also include a panel discussion with participants where attendees can ask questions and engage with the speakers. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
