Marlins’ Pitcher Ryan Weathers Suffers Injury During Game Against Cleveland Guardians

Marlins pitcher Ryan Weathers forced to exit start due to finger discomfort

During a recent game between the Miami Marlins and Cleveland Guardians, left-hander Ryan Weathers exited in the third inning due to soreness in his left index finger. This unfortunate incident happened just as Brayan Rocchio of the Guardians hit his first career home run, giving Cleveland a commanding 2-0 lead over the Marlins.

Weathers’ departure from the game prompted Miami’s manager Skip Schumaker, pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr., and a team trainer to head to the mound to discuss the situation with him. After a brief conversation, Weathers came out of the game having pitched 2 1/3 innings. The young pitcher, who is only 24 years old and was acquired by the Marlins from San Diego last season, had been struggling in his previous six starts, allowing 11 runs.

This injury adds another challenge for the Marlins as they continue to struggle with their pitching staff this season. Weathers will undergo further evaluation to determine the extent of his injury and what steps are necessary for his recovery. In his absence, the Marlins will need to rely heavily on their bullpen and other starters to pick up the slack and keep up with their opponents throughout the rest of the season.
