Manuel Romo Discusses Citibanamex’s Upcoming Separation and Mexico’s Future Progress at 87th Banking Convention in Acapulco

Banamex to retain 22 million clients as Citi acquires 2 thousand in seamless transition

In an interview before the 87th Banking Convention in Acapulco, Manuel Romo, the general director of Citibanamex, discussed the upcoming separation between Citibanamex and Citi. He stated that the transition will be smooth and that clients will not notice any changes in terms, conditions, benefits, or offers during this process. However, he did not mention whether the initial public offering to divest from Banamex will take place in the United States stock market or in Mexico.

Romo also emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities in the current global context and expressed a positive outlook for Mexico’s economic growth. He highlighted the country’s strong institutional foundations and emphasized the need to continue building on them. Romo discussed the challenges that the next administration will face and expressed a willingness to support and collaborate with the government to address Mexico’s needs. He mentioned the possibility of a dialogue with Claudia Sheinbaum, Morena’s candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, but did not discuss their relationship further.
