Malik Monk’s $78 Million Deal: How the Kings Are Looking to Repeat Their Success in 2024-2025.

Malik Monk set to sign a 4-year, $78 million contract with the Kings, reports say

In 2024, Malik Monk will return to Sacramento after agreeing to a four-year, $78 million deal with a player option. Despite missing the playoffs with the Kings last season, Monk had a career year, averaging 15 points and five assists per game. He was the runner-up for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2024.

Monk joined the Kings in 2022 and saw significant improvement in his game compared to his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. With a full season of Domantas Sabonis and head coach Mike Brown, the Kings ended their 16-year playoff drought in 2023. However, last season did not go as planned, as they were eliminated in the play-in round despite Monk’s personal success.

The Kings narrowly missed out on the Sixth Man of the Year Award as Monk finished just behind Naz Reid. As a key free agent for the team, it was crucial for them to secure his return. The re-signing of head coach Mike Brown is also part of their plan to retain all major contributors from last season.

Despite their efforts to keep their core intact, the Kings face tough competition in the Western Conference next season as they look to improve on their ninth-place finish from the previous year.
