Boston Red Sox World Series Champion Passes Away Suddenly at Age 54 Due to Cardiac Event

On Friday, the Boston Red Sox announced the passing of Major League journeyman Dave McCarty at the age of 54 due to a “cardiac event.” McCarty, who played as a first baseman and outfielder, spent three seasons in Boston as part of the 2004 World Series championship team.

The Red Sox expressed their sadness over the loss of McCarty and remembered his contributions to the team. In a statement released on Friday night, they offered their condolences to his wife, Monica, and their children, Reid and Maxine.

Throughout his career, McCarty played for several teams including the Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Oakland Athletics, and Boston Red Sox. He batted right-handed and threw left-handed, accumulating 362 hits, 36 home runs
