Lynn University Snyder Center Students Make a Difference as Wellness Educators and Fitness Monitors

The Addition of Lynn’s Snyder Center for Health and Wellness Enhances Campus Community

At the Snyder Center, students have the opportunity to take on influential roles as wellness educators and fitness monitors. They play a crucial role in scheduling classes, events, and programs, all while gaining valuable skills from their on-campus job experience.

As wellness educators, Bella Verheyen and Alyssa Ott educate their peers on important topics such as stress management, nutrition, and maintaining healthy relationships. They also offer a 10-week “Wellness Certificate” course that helps students enhance their resumes by learning from doctors, professors, and other wellness professionals through weekly Zoom calls.

Verheyen, a criminal justice major, works in the Snyder Center’s Student Wellness and Health Promotions office. She has aspirations of going to law school or joining the FBI and has found that being a wellness educator at Lynn has helped her manage stress and develop personally and professionally for her future career.

Ott, a psychology major, has been working as a wellness educator for three years and plans to pursue a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology. She enjoys hosting events like Wellness Wednesdays and encourages her peers to take advantage of the free resources available on campus to help improve their overall well-being.

Both Verheyen and Ott believe that the skills and knowledge gained from their roles as wellness educators have been invaluable in preparing them for their future careers and have helped them make a positive impact on the Lynn University campus community.
