Megaport and Lufthansa Systems Join Forces to Transform Aviation Technology

Lufthansa Systems and Megaport Limited have teamed up to revolutionize aviation technology, with a focus on enhancing security, performance, and connectivity for over 350 airlines worldwide. As a top-tier provider of Network as a Service (NaaS), Megaport is bringing its expertise in Software Defined Network (SDN) to this partnership.

Megaport’s expansive SDN will be used by Lufthansa Systems to transition the global aviation cloud from a single cloud setup to a multi-cloud environment. By shifting core routing from cloud to Megaport, the alliance aims to create a more secure and efficient network for airlines to exchange data seamlessly.

Lufthansa Systems’ Global Aviation Cloud initiative serves over 350 airlines worldwide, focusing on virtualizing essential airline applications and migrating them to the cloud. By leveraging Megaport’s private connectivity through robust data centers, virtual firewalls, and virtual routing, Lufthansa Systems can provide secure and reliable connections for its airline clients to access cloud-based applications.

The benefits of this partnership are significant, including lower network costs, enhanced performance, improved security, and the ability to quickly provision virtual network services through Megaport’s API. By implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), the alliance aims to make the process of accessing virtual network services more efficient and streamlined for airline clients.
