LSU’s recruiting class received a significant boost on July 4th as Class of 2025 four-star defensive tackle Zion Williams from Lufkin, Texas announced his commitment to the Tigers. The addition of Williams, who is ranked as the No. 20 defensive tackle in his class, further solidifies LSU’s position among the top recruiting classes in the country.
Williams had offers from several top programs, including Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, USC, Florida, TCU and Arkansas. However, he ultimately chose LSU due to the university’s reputation for producing successful defensive players and its commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
With Williams joining fellow defensive lineman LaJesse Harrold in the 2025 recruiting haul, LSU’s defense is set to become even stronger. Although the Tigers have primarily focused on offensive players so far in this cycle, with nine commitments compared to four defensively inclined prospects, Williams’ commitment adds much-needed depth to the defensive side of things.
As a result of Williams’ commitment, LSU now has 13 commitments in total – all but one being four-star prospects or higher. Despite having fewer commitments than some of their top-11 rivals in the Recruiting Team Rankings , LSU remains a force to be reckoned with when it comes to attracting top talent.
