LSU Heisman Winner Jayden Daniels Signs Record-Breaking Rookie Deal with Washington Commanders, Set to Compete for Starting QB Job

Jayden Daniels, Commanders’ First-Round QB, Signs Rookie Deal

The No. 2 overall pick in the Class of 2024, Jayden Daniels, has officially agreed to terms with the Commanders on his rookie deal. His contract is for four years and valued at $37.75 million, fully guaranteed. Daniels will also receive a signing bonus of $24.3 million, and there is a fifth-year option included in the deal.

Despite being the highest draft pick to sign in his class, Daniels will have to compete for the starting quarterback position with the Commanders. However, unless he gets injured, he is expected to become Washington’s eighth different Week 1 quarterback in as many seasons.

Daniels had an impressive career at LSU, winning the Heisman Trophy last season. He completed 72.2 percent of his passes for 3,812 yards, throwing 40 touchdowns and only four interceptions. In addition to his passing abilities, he also showcased his running ability, rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns.
